Carson Ferguson endures tough wreck at Eldora Speedway during Dirt Late Model Dream
Opening up the weekend with a $20,000-to-win FloRacing show, Carson Ferguson was one of 85 Super Late Models at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) on Wednesday evening for the 31st-annual Dirt Late Model Dream.
Carson kicked off the week by putting the Paylor Motorsports No. 93 machine on the pole for the opener after he topped the charts in qualifying and won his heat race. Ferguson ran inside the Top-5 early in the going but faded to 11th in the 50-lapper.
Participating in Thursday's prelim night, Ferguson qualified fourth-quickest and finished third in his heat race. Carson hit the invert just right and started on the outside pole of the $30,000-to-win prelim but quickly found himself in trouble. While going for the lead on the opening lap, Carson hit the outside berm and flipped wildly before another competitor slammed into him. Carson was OK after the incident and the team pulled out the backup car for Saturday.
Despite a 16th-to-8th charge in his last chance showdow, Ferguson was unable to make the 100-lap, $100,000-to-win finale on Saturday.
